Three men plunged 69-storeys to their death from Bangkok’s Baiyoke Tower II, Thailand’s tallest building yesterday.
The men were installing a billboard to the front of the tower in Ratchathewi district when the suspended platform they were working on collapsed.
The bodies of the three men were found on a 36th floor balcony, beside a swimming pool on the 20th floor and on an outside mini-golf driving range on the 18th floor.
Two other workers managed to cling onto the platform for over half an hour dangling from the 68th floor, until building staff rescued them.
An overloaded platform is being blamed by Pol Maj Gen Anuchi who ruled out a broken cable being the cause of the accident as earlier reported. Investigators will look into whether the accident was caused by the worker’s own negligence or defective equipment according to The Bangkok Post.
