Yesterday, police seized over 1,000 counterfeit bags and wristwatches with an estimated value of THB10 million.
Police arrested 42-year-old Shu Tai Shang and 40-year-old Wang Ying Jin for smuggling in the fake brand name products with tourist visas. The Chinese pair confessed that they distributed the counterfeits to suppliers in tourist destinations throughout Bangkok, such as Silom and Khao San Roads.
The arrest and seizure followed a raid on an Amornchai Village 1 house on Rama II Road, which was being utilized as a storage facility. Copies of brand-name products from Gucci, Chanel, Bulgari, Omega and Rolex were found among the 1,000 fakes.
According to Dailynews, the suspects will be handed over to the Bang Mod police for further questioning and prosecution.
