Thailand’s first recycle swap-shop opens in Bangkok

Thailand’s first recycled-goods swap shop opened today on On Nut soi 14, giving people the chance to exchange recyclable goods for consumer goods such as detergent, packaged foods and drinks, the Bangkok Post reported.

The store aims to lessen the amount of garbage being dumped and to reduce costs of living.

Sompong Tancharoenpol, chairman of the Thailand Institute of Packaging and Recycling Management for Sustainable Environment said the “zero baht” store will encourage people to separate their garbage and use some of it to buy other people’s unwanted household items and consumer products.
