On Feb. 1, Thailand will set up a THB50 million fund for the purpose of assisting foreign tourists who are either injured or killed while visiting the Kingdom.
In an interview this Monday with the Nation, Tanittha Sawetsila Maneechot, deputy permanent secretary for the Tourism Ministry, stated that the project was aimed at increasing foreign confidence in the Thai tourism industry.
Thailand also plans to protect tourists by stepping up its efforts at reducing graft, money laundering and scams. These initiatives are being undertaken in preparation for the country’s 2015 accession to the ASEAN Economic Community.
