684 people have been confirmed dead from Thailand’s worst flooding in decades, the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department announced today Dec. 6. Three people are still missing.
Flooding began in northern Thailand in late July then spread to the central provinces and Bangkok. Most recently the southern provinces have been affected.
Flooding remains in 15 provinces: Chai Nat, Angthong, Ayutthaya, Lopburi, Saraburi, Suphanburi, Nakhon Pathom, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Sakhon, Nakhon Nayok, Chachoengsao, Bangkok, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung.
A total of 4,733,137 people are currently being affected, the department said.
