A Thai woman suspected to be part of a human trafficking syndicate in the Sultanate of Oman was nabbed by police at the Suvarnabhumi Airport on Thursday.
Thai Police identified the suspect as Wanwipa or Nattaya Watanapongsakul who is said to be luring Thai women into the slavery trade in Oman.
Authorities said the arrest stemmed from a tip from Thai woman claiming that the suspect held her captive and forced her into prostitution in Muscat, the country’s capital. Ms Wanipa, of course, denied the charges and said that she had paid for the complainant’s freedom and return ticket to Thailand.
According to reports, Ms Wanwipa and an accomplice, one Vibulchai Lapakdi ran a massage parlor in Muscat and recruited Thai woman to work for them via social networking sites. Mr Vibulchai is still at large.
