Thai plastic surgeons hope to boost cosmetic tourism

Plastic Surgeons, those most noble of medical practitioners, banded together with the Medical Council yesterday in lobbying the Thai government to do more to promote and facilitate cosmetic surgery tourism within the Kingdom.

The Medical Council-Surgeon alliance is proposing an all-encompassing plan to offer would-be tourists airfare, hotel stay, surgery and a shopping trip for less than the price of going under the knife in costlier locales like Europe or North America.

According to reporting from the Nation, it is believed that successfully turning Thailand into a cosmetic surgery hub would translate into a THB200 billion increase in GDP annually. Cosmetic surgery procedures are currently surging in popularity throughout Asia, South America, Europe and the United States.
