Thai company wants to expand 7-11 empire into China

Thailand’s boon (or blight, depending on where you stand) of 7-11s is about to spread to China.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that CP All Pcl., the ambitious conglomerate behind the Kingdom’s ubiquitous 7-11s, is seeking permission from its American progenitor to begin opening stores in China. Sources from within CP All said that the company hopes to have made the leap by the end of this year.

As can perhaps be expected of a company that has fundamental altered Thailand’s retail landscape, CP All’s ambitions are decidedly super-sized. After moving into Asia’s largest market, the company hopes to open up shops in Myanmar, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos as well.
