Later today, the Election Commission (EC) will officially endorse the governorship of MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, who was elected to the office for a second consecutive term earlier this month.
For the past couple weeks, the EC has been investigating complaints about the gubernatorial election set forth by the opposing Pheu Thai Party. However, the EC failed to conclude its investigation in time to upset Sukhumbhand’s win and the governor-elect will officially take control of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration later today.
The National News Bureau of Thailand reports that three complaints were filed against Sukhumbhand. However, the investigation into these complaints failed to bear fruit within the 30-day period given to the EC to complete its inquiries.
