Incumbent Bangkok Governor Sukhumbhand Paribatra expressed hesitation today about whether or not he would be running for Bangkok’s governorship as an independent candidate.
Sukhumbhand told FM91 that he was not concerned by the possibility that the Democrat Party might disapprove of his bid to seek a second term.
“It was the party’s responsibility to dictate the nomination. I respect any decision to be made,” said the administrator, whose term will expire on Jan. 10, 2013.
Coconuts Bangkok previously reported on Sukhumbhand’s strong desire to secure a second term. Before presenting his vision statement to the party’s selection panel, he confidently stated that he would secure the party’s ticket and that he never thought of independently competing in the Feb. 17 election.
