Serial water meter thieves arrested while on duty in Bang Bon

At 3am yesterday, Yuthachai Mingkwan, a 30-year-old Pathum Thani man, was caught stealing a water meter in front of a house on Bang Bon 4 Road in the Bang Bon District.

Police subsequently went to search Yuthachai’s residence on Nong Khem Road and arrested his friend Sathit Sakorn, who was breaking a water meter to take brass out in order to sell it to a scrap metal merchant.

Police found 570 water meters from the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority and a set of gears in the pair’s possession. However, police failed to bust the gang leader, and owner of the house, Danai Phoosri, 31, who had fled the scene before the police search.

Yuthachai and Sathit admitted that they stole water meters from many areas including Bang Bon, Nong Khem, Petchkasem and Laksong. They said that they had spent money from brass sale on drugs. Police will soon issue an arrest warrant for Danai, Dailynews reported.
