Report shows Thais are clamoring for new products

A report released today by the Nielsen ratings firm lent some statistical credence to the oft-uttered truism that Thais love new stuff.

Nielsen Thailand Communications reports that 97% (!) of Thais have purchased a newly launched food or beverage within the past six months, making them far and away the most enthusiastic Asian consumers of foodstuffs.

In what must be music to the ears of brand strategists the world over, Nielsen also reported that although Thais often try news products, they also have remarkable brand loyalty.

“Sixty-eight per cent prefer to buy new products from a familiar brand,” reports the Bangkok Post. However, just three out of 10 Thais are actually willing to jump ship and switch brands.
