Yesterday, the organizer of Sripatum University’s gubernatorial vision debate placed a red Furby in an onstage spot reserved for Pongsapat Pongcharoen, the Pheu Thai candidate for Bangkok’s governorship, claiming that Pongsapat failed to show for the debate after he had accepted an invitation to do so.
The fake Furby, which sat above the No.9 sign, stirred widespread debate about whether the university had engaged in a sensible move.
Pheu Thai campaign deputy spokesperson Sunisa Lertpakawat said that Pongsapat’s absence owed to his plan to meet with over 1,000 teachers at The Teacher’s Council of Thailand from 9am to 2pm.
Sunisa insisted that he did not break any promise since he had rejected the invitation after seeing that it overlapped with the teachers’ meeting.
