A photo of an injured security guard at Ramkhamhaeng University has been circulating in the Thai online community, drawing a spate of negative reactions. It has drawn the ire of netizens who have declared zero tolerance for violence in educational institutions.
The photo’s caption read, “The incident happened at around 10am on Mar. 17 when two men, allegedly part-time undergraduates, were parking their Chevrolet sedan in front of a Government Savings Bank branch inside Ramkhamhaeng University’s Huamark Campus. The on-duty security guard prohibited the men from parking there, subsequently resulting in a fight.”
The duo later came back with five more men to chase down the security guard and hit him in the head, legs and arms. They pointed a gun at him and threatened to scoop out his eyeballs. The security guard asked them to let him go, saying that his child was still young. He was later sent to a hospital for treatment and still remains in critical condition.
“The incident happened during daytime hours. Did the university’s management know about this,” the caption said. “The security guard was just doing his job but was attacked.”
At the time of this writing, none of Ramkhamhaeng University’s executive have responded to the incident.
