According to a report from the Nation, Thailand’s Public Health Ministry has announced that it will push for 10 Thai herbs to be added to the National Drug List over the next three years.
Earlier this week, the Development of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine Department (DTTAMD), the Food and Drug Administration and the Medical Sciences Department signed a memorandum of understanding, solidifying their intentions to add more herbs to the National List.
Substances on Thailand’s National Drug List can be dispensed free-of-charge through the nation’s public hospitals.
Currently, the National Drug List includes 878 drugs, 71 of which are herbs.
The 10 herbs proposed for accession to the list include mulberry, turmeric, chili and guava leaf.
