Porames: ‘I wish I was the one who died’

At 3:10PM yesterday, Channel 3 actor Porames “Phee” Singhpho reported to the Thonglor police station to hear an additional charge of premeditated murder. His bail was also raised by THB300,000. The charge was brought against him after the death of his friend Nopphadol “Ae” Athibuy, who died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head during an altercation with Phee last Thursday night.

“I sincerely apologize for what I have done. If I could turn back time, I would not have done so or I should have been the one who died,” the 33-year-old actor said.

That was the only oral statement Phee made to the media before entering the station. However, Phee’s lawyer later distributed written statements to reporters, indicating that it was the court’s duty, and not the public’s, to judge whether or not Phee was guilty in the case.

Police told Dailynews that Phee refused the accusation and was scheduled for further questioning on Feb. 5 at 10AM. Phee had claimed that the shooting was accidental but police were convinced that they could make a case for his guilt.

As Coconuts Bangkok reported yesterday, Phee shot Ae on Jan. 18 at a parking lot in front of Ei8ht Thonglor on Soi Thonglor 8. He was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm and unlawful shooting of a firearm in a public space, and was released on THB200,000 bail.
