Poll: 77 percent approve of Chuwit’s casino revelations

A recent Suan Dusit Poll found that a majority of Thai people approve Rak Thai party MP Chuwit Kamolvasit’s public disclosure of information about illegal gambling dens in Bangkok.

About 77 percent of people surveyed said that Chuwit’s disclosures helped them be more informed and kept police on their toes, The Bangkok Post reported.

About 16 percent said that there were people “who stood to gain and lose” from his disclosures. About seven percent said they disagreed with Chuwit’s actions, saying they were not systematic, would cause more societal conflict, and made it more difficult for police to perform their duties.

The poll surveyed 1,271 people throughout the country from Feb. 1-4.

Chuwit fingered 22 alleged illegal gambling dens in Bangkok in late January.
