Police survey shows that almost half of all Thais worry about crime

A survey conducted by the Royal Thai Police and the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) is showing that close to half of all Thais, 46.7%, worry about crime.

The survey included 12,870 persons in its reach. The fact that community-policing volunteers from 99 precincts helped fill out that number may account for the survey’s insistence that 65.41% of people have confidence in the police force.

The Nation has pointed out that police confidence and fear of crime vary greatly by region. Unsurprisingly, those most scared of crime live in the southern border provinces, where worries about criminal activity trouble more than 50% of the population.

Also curious to note is that in Provincial Police Region 3, a whopping 82.63% of the population has voiced in confidence in the police force.
