Police and public health officials raided llegal medical clinics in Bangkok’s Don Muang district over the weekend leading to the arrest of four suspects who were pretending to be licensed medical practitioners.
Public health ministry adviser Pasit Sakdanarong was part of the crackdown on four unlicensed clinics at the Song Prapa road and Wat Weruwanaram Road at the Si Kan subdistrict. Children and Women Protection Sub-division commander Wiwat Kamchamnarn was in charge of the operations which resulted on tips from the public.
Operatives raided Si Kan Medical Clinic, Song Prapa Medical Clinic, Sirisook Medical Clinic and Prom Medical and arrested four suspects, namely: Jirasit Vijitpat, Kwanlada Tangtongkham, Utcharin Soodkungwarn and Ubon Pimpapak for operating these clinics without medical license.
Mr Pasit said the clinics violated Public Health Ministry regulations for displaying fake medical licenses. The illegal clinics were also dispensing pseudoephedrine and other drugs that can be abused.
There are about 70-80 medical clinics which are operating illegally in the city, the Bangkok Post reported.
Earlier this month, a model died after falling into a coma from cosmetic injections by an unlicensed practitioner.
