Police find and defuse three bombs in eastern Bangkok

Police discovered three bombs this morning Dec. 16 in eastern Bangkok, TANN has reported.

National Police Chief Police General Priewphan Damaphong said that police at 3AM this morning arrested the man suspected of placing a bomb near the Government Lottery Office branch and that he confessed to planting three more bombs in the east of the capital.

Police followed the leads, found the three bombs, and defused them.

One was found near Bangkok Bank’s Sukhumvit 77 branch on Lad Krabang Soi 20, one was found Suvarnabhumi Market on Lad Krabang Soi 13 Road, and one on a road near Udom Suk.

The first bomb on Lad Krabang Soi 20 was made of PVC pipe wrapped in plastic sheets, like the one near the Government Lottery Office branch on Ratchadamnoen Road.

Pol Gen Priewphan, Metropolitan Police Bureau Deputy Commissioner Police Major General Wichai Sangpraphai, and Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung reportedly rushed to the bomb locations upon hearing the news.

Chalerm is supposed to hold a press conference sometime today about the bombs.
