We’d hesitate to call this crackdown a “moral crusade,” except that Thailand’s official news outlet went ahead and called it a “moral crusade,” so we guess the phrase is fair game.
Police Commander-in-Chief Pol. Gen. Adul Sangsingkaew has instructed law enforcement officials across the country to more energetically pursue the prosecution of gambling and other “vices.” So energetic is Adul’s belief in this sententious campaign that he has labeled it a “crusade.” Officers who fail to hew to the program risk Adul’s official censure, which will most likely come in the form of demotion.
Gambling is illegal throughout Thailand though, as recent events have shown, no one (including the cops) seems to care all that much.
