Police arrest two drug users for Prawet taxi driver murder

Police have arrested two men suspected of killing and robbing the taxi driver found stabbed to death in Bangkok’s Prawet district on Saturday.

The two young men – Sakchai Wangcharoen, 19, and Apidet Mekloi, 21 – said that they robbed the driver for funds to buy drugs. On the night of August 11, they said they hired the taxi and directed it to a soi in Prawet district where they tried to rob the driver at knifepoint. When the driver fought back he was stabbed eight times and stole his wallet, leaving him for dead.

Police identified the suspects from security cameras in the area and arrested them yesterday, the Bangkok Post reported.
