Science and Technology Minister Plodprasob Surasawadi said today that the canal drainage system in western Bangkok is 20-30% more effective than before after a test this afternoon.
The system improved due to the installation of water pumps and restoration of the Thawi Watthana sluice gate, he said according to NNT.
The government is conducting controversial flood tests on Bangkok’s canal system until September 7.
Some residents near canals have expressed fear that the tests may flood their houses, while others have supported them, saying that they will help Bangkok handle flooding.
