Early this morning, police arrested a 25-year-old motorcycle cab driver who had staged an armed robbery at a 7-11 convenience store in the Bangbon District on Jan. 7. The capture was facilitated by a phone-sex-based sting operation.
Police told Dailynews that Thatchaphol Srisattha was charged following a fake phone sex call that officers had set up for the purpose of luring him out into public. The seductive call ended with Thatchaphol being asked to meet with his sexual partner. Thatchaphol took the bait and wound up walking right into a trap.
Thatchaphol admitted to having robbed the store and stolen THB2,000 in cash, as well as two mobile phones.
