Pheu Thai Party pushing to undo Sukhumbhand’s gubernatorial win

Spokesmen for the Pheu Thai Party have reiterated that group’s commitment to fighting the accession of governor-elect MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra, a Democrat.

Yesterday, former senator Ruangkrai Leekijwattana petitioned the Bangkok Election Commission to look into accusations that Pheu Thai gubernatorial candidate Pongsapat Pongcharoen was slandered during the election.

He also suggested that comments made by Democrat politicians at a rally in Benjasiri Park might constitute a violation of local election law, and thereby necessitate the dissolution of the Democrat Party.

For their part, the Democrats don’t appear too worried about Pheu Thai’s legal threats.

Democrat leader Abhisit Vejjajiva stated to the Nation that he was unworried about the Election Commission’s investigation, and that such an inquiry was quite normal in the case of any successful gubernatorial candidate.
