Pheu Thai calls for investigation into Futsal Arena construction

The plot thickens and the mess escalates at the Bangkok Futsal Arena, nay Bangkok Arena Nongchok.

The Bangkok Post is reporting that the Pheu Thai Party has formally called on the Department of Special Investigations (DSI) to look into possible irregularities in the construction of the arena.

Earlier this month, the Arena failed to pass inspection, voiding its ostensible purpose as a host for the 2012 Futsal World Cup.

Pheu Thai deputy spokesman Jirayu Huangsap filed the request for inquiry, which stated that the Bangkok Metropolitan Association’s (BMA) hiring of EMC Plc. for the arena’s construction violated the BMA’s price collusion law, as well as its hire and purchase regulations.

Pol Lt-Col Anurak Rojananirankij of the DSI’s criminal litigation office stated that if the complaint is found to have grounds, the DSI will pursue its investigation further.
