Everybody get your bike on!
The Tourism Authority of Thailand is organizing Bangkok Bike 2013, an event meant to promote cycling in the Big Mango that will run May 2-5 at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi.
TAT Deputy Governor for Tourism Products Vilaiwan Twichasri said that bicycle sales grew by 20% last year, evidence of a growing trend. Vilaiwan said that bicycle tourism contributed as much as THB900 million in tourism revenue to Thailand, according to NNT.
The event’s theme is “Let’s go green” and visitors will be able to buy an assortment of bikes and biking gear as well as learn about cycling routes throughout Thailand.
Bangkok is far from a cyclists dream, as anyone who rides a bike here can attest, but let’s hope this is a step in the right direction towards becoming a bit more two-wheel friendly.
