Pavena rules out running for Bangkok’s governorship on the Pheu Thai ticket

Pavena Hongsakul, Chairwoman of the Pavena Hongsakul Foundation for Children and Women, shrugged off rumors that she would be nominated by the Pheu Thai Party to run for the position of governor of Bangkok.

The former Bangkok MP insisted that she would definitely not enter the race and that rumors of her being a team member for different Pheu Thai candidates were just the result of a misunderstanding.

“I was recently encouraged to consider running for the office but I always rejected the offer,” the social activist stated. “I thank everyone for support but at the moment I just want to commit myself to my current social work.”

According to Dailynews, apart from her foundation, Pavena is preparing for the launch of a new, academic endeavor—Pavene Hongsakul Child and Elderly Care School.

Pavena’s statement came on the heels of a rumor that the Pheu Thai Party would soon reveal its nominee for the governorship, as well as a list of potential deputy governors, in which her name was included.
