Pathum Thani woman escapes night-time rape attempt in her own home

A woman in Pathum Thani narrowly escaped a terrifying ordeal at the hands of a convicted rapist, who broke into her home in the middle of the night and ordered her to take off her clothes at knifepoint.

Neuy, a 35-year-old civil servant whose real name has been withheld, was woken at 4am Wednesday morning by a man grabbing her throat.

The man pointed a knife at her, telling her he would stab her to death if she screamed.

He ordered her to take her clothes off, presumably so he could rape her.

Neuy told the man to let go of her so she could undress. When he did so, she screamed for her 67-year-old mother, who also lived in the house.

Shocked, the suspect turned and ran out the building – dropping his cellphone in the process.

Police from Khukhot Police Station in Lamlukka District examined the device, tracing it to Chinnakon Saiphachon, 18.

Officers went to the suspect’s house in Thanyaburi District, where relatives told them he had just been released from jail on another rape charge.

They said they had no idea he had attempted to rape again.

Police have requested an arrest warrant from Thanyaburi Provincial Court to pursue the case against Mr Chinnakon.
