Pathum Thani police bust Chiang Rai trio with ice worth THB180 million

TBH180 million worth of crystal methamphetamine fell into hands of police authorities after three suspected drug dealers tried to break into their impounded pick-up truck in Pathum Thani’s Khlong Luang early yesterday morning.

Pratunam Chulalongkorn police officers arrested the three Chiang Rai men for possession of some 62kg of crystal meth.

The Nation reported that one of the suspects had confessed to being contracted to deliver illegal drugs to the Khlong Luang area on Oct. 5 for TBH300,000. The three suspects, however, got into an accident which prompted them to abandon the vehicle containing the drugs… but they were then told by their bosses that they would be killed if they didn’t retrieve the narcotics.

The three suspects then hatched a plan to break into the storage facility for impounded vehicles and searched the pick up track for the drug stash. Barking dogs in the area gave them away and they had to flee the scene empty handed.

Police realized that they would come back for the drugs and staged a stakeout. They were finally arrested at 4:30 am yesterday.
