Officials have banned all vehicles from carrying water for the duration of this year’s Songkran festival, aiming to put an end to the truck-bed water fights that have typified the festival in past years.
This move serves as only the latest of several restrictions aimed at making this year’s festival safer for revelers.
In addition to being disallowed from raining down aquatic justice on your fellows from the safety of your pickup truck, participants at this year’s Songkran will have a much harder time finding alcohol and available hotel rooms.
