No motorway fees this New Years!

The potpourri of legal strictures governing this year’s New Years celebrations in Bangkok is really going to be a mess.

For those playing the home game, here’s what you have to keep in mind (so far):

“Yes” to buying roadside beers.

“No” to setting off fireworks indoors.

“Yes” to reducing your chance of injury by a statistically negligible amount.

“Yes” to being breathalyzed (even if it probably won’t give you an accurate reading).

And now…

“No” to motorway fees.

From Dec. 27 to Jan. 3, the Highway Department is going to waive all tolls at the Lat Krabang, Thupchang and Thanyaburi tollgates.

Chatchawan Bunjaroenkit, director general of the Highway Department, told the Nation that the changes were aimed at helping facilitate travel during the holiday.

By the way: Try not to drink and drive.
