The Bangkok Metropolitan Police Bureau was forced to deny an allegation that a large casino is about to open in Bangkok from the former massage parlor tycoon and current Rak Thai Party Chuwit Kamolvisits.
Officers from Wang Thong Lang police station inspected Pracha Uthit Road last month and found no illegal casino, Pol Maj Gen Sarot Promcharoen said according to The Bangkok Post. The police located the building Mr Chuwit identified as the new casino but found nothing other than a privately owned building located next to a driving range.
Chuwit claimed that the casino contained more than 50 gaming tables, a horse-race betting facility, slot machines and was ready to start full operation.
Chuwit is, to say the least, a controversial figure within Thai politics. Before becoming an MP he made his fortune running massage parlours and casinos only to quit this lucrative business to expose the police payments involved in keeping those types of establishments in business.
