Holidaymakers flooded back to Bangkok yesterday, returning from trips outside the capital to celebrate the New Year.
Inbound traffic on main arteries entering Bangkok was heavy, the reverse of just a few days earlier when outbound traffic came to a standstill.
The first five days of this year’s “Seven Dangerous Days” around the New Year period saw a total of 254 deaths and 2,454 injuries from 2,351 on Thailand’s roads. The totals were down from last year when 283 died and 2,783 were injured in 2,544, according to the Nation.
Nakhon Pathom province saw the most fatalities with 12, while Chiang Mai had the most injuries, 105, and accidents, 104.
