National Parks Department wants THB9 billion for reforestation

According to the Nation, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation is seeking THB9 billion for reforestation projects across Thailand.

If secured, the funds will be used to plant new vegetation, and beat back encroachers who have pressed into national wildlife preserves.

The Department estimates that rampant encroachment has cost the Kingdom more than 150,000 rai (59,305 acres) of green space, an area that the Department claims will take three to five years to replant.
