National Human Rights Commission: Penalties for workplace harassment too lenient

Thailand’s National Human Rights Commission has come out with a report on workplace harassment in the Kingdom, and chief among that report’s findings is the revelation that Thai punishments for workplace harassment are ridiculously lenient.

According to the Nation, “bruises and small wounds” resulting from employer harassment will net the harasser only a one-month prison sentence or a THB1,000 fine.

What’s more, the volume of workplace harassment incidents is staggering. Between 2010 and the present, more than 25,000 cases have been reported, many of which took place in government offices.
