Police believe the man they killed last week near Mo Chit bus terminal in a shootout was a gun for hire who completed several hits on alleged traitors among a criminal drug gang.
Sakrapop Klaileung, who was killed when he fired on police attempting to arrest him, became a murder suspect along with five others when police were looking into the deaths of two men allegedly involved in a drug ring, Pol. Maj. Gen. Pisit Pisuttisak told Thai PBS.
Mrs. Somporn Sriwattanakul is believed to have ordered Sakrapop to kill Adison Srisuk after he refused to cough up the THB100 million for drugs left undiscovered in a police bust. Mr. Adison held onto the drugs for himself instead of turning them over to the gang after his partner, Manod Budnamped, was arrested, police said.
Due to evidence found in his prison cell, police believe Manod orchestrated the hit from behind bars under Ms. Somporn’s orders. Police have identified six people believed to have been involved in the murder of Mr. Adison: Sakrapop, who was killed last week; Manod, who is serving a life sentence in Bang Kwang prison; Sarawak Siangyai, who was arrested on July 7; and Noppadol Hinchiranan, Anan Hinchiranan, and Semporn, who remain at large.
