Mother storms parliament building, complaining of molested daughter

Yesterday, an irate mother stormed barefoot into the lobby of the parliament building and began demanding that police take legal action against a young monk who she claims molested her 11-year-old daughter.

According to the woman’s story, she had left her daughter with a senior monk (a cousin of hers) at a temple in the Mueang district while she went shopping. Upon returning, she found a novice monk molesting her daughter in one of the temple’s bathroom stalls.

She claims that she reported the incident to the police, but that these authorities did nothing beyond making a cursory inquiry.

The Bangkok Post reports that security guards eventually escorted the woman out of the parliament building, and that police have renewed their investigation into her complaints.
