Ministry of Culture to host Rattanakosin celebration on April 20-22

In an effort to promote Thai peoples’ pride in their nationality, the Ministry of Culture will be hosting a celebration for the 231st anniversary of Rattanakosin, this April 20 through 22.

During those dates, the island of Rattanakosin will play host to a variety of activities, including cultural shows, Thai traditional games and Thai food displays. (According to the National News Bureau of Thailand, there will also be “retro market settings,” though it’s hard to tell what exactly they mean by that.)

A special, merit-making religious ceremony will take place April 21, the date of the setting of Rattanakosin’s foundation pillar.
