A man died and 11 people were injured in a fire at the Grand Tower Inn Hotel in Bangkok’s Khlong San district yesterday.
Arson is the suspected cause of the blaze.
Five thais, two Japanese, two Chinese, one Korean, and one Lao national were injured.
Pol Lt Col Arwut Udomrat from Samre Police Station said the fire began at around 2am and took about an hour to bring under control after firetrucks responded. All eight floors of the hotel on Charoen Nakhon Road were damaged.
Police found the body of Pongkorn Boon-aram, 45, a hotel employee, in a bathroom on the third floor, the Bangkok Post reported. They believe he died of smoke inhalation.
