The Lord Mayor of the City of London, David Wootton, who is the ambassador for UK-based financial and professional services industry is heading a senior city business delegation to the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore from May 19 to 26.
The aim of the trip is to ensure London and the UK remains Southeast Asia’s partner of choice in financial and professional services.
“Our relationship with the Southeast Asia is hugely important and this longstanding partnership is one that I hope to strengthen during my visit to these three countries. Philippines, Thailand and Singapore are all key strategic partners for the UK and City businesses. We view this relationship very much as one of sharing skills and experiences to grow both our financial sectors by mobilizing the two-way flow of capital, knowledge and ideas,” he told The Nation.
Wootton will meet with senior figures in government, policy makers, investment authorities and business leaders from the three countries, including Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong and Bank of Thailand Governor Prasarn Trairatvorakul.
He is scheduled to give a key note speech to Thai business leaders May 23rd in Bangkok at a lunch organized by the British Chamber of Commerce.
