Krabi’s tourism earnings for 2012 reach THB42 billion

MCOT is reporting that the southwestern province of Krabi earned THB42 billion last year from record amounts of tourist traffic.

According to Viyada Srirangkul, director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Krabi office, this handsome sum represents a 10% year-on-year increase in visitors to the province.

Viyada credited promotional events in Australia, China, Germany and Malaysia with drawing more foreign visitors. He also pointed out that as much as 40% of Krabi’s visitors hailed from within Thailand itself.
