The Stop Global Warming Association (SGWA) filed a lawsuit today with the Administrative Court against Prasert Yusupap, the Director of Khlong Prem Central Prison, over the air pollution caused by the prison’s nigh-relentless chili roasts.
SGWA chairperson Srisuwan Janya said that residents in the Prachanives 1 village in Bangkok’s Chatuchak district had suffered from respiratory disorders and allergies throughout the past year. She insisted that the prison should be held responsible for its ignorance of the damage caused by the hot chili smoke released during cooking.
In the complaint, Srisuwan asks for the court to order the Prison to immediately stop roasting and to pay compensation of THB300,000 to injured citizens, with an annual interest rate of 15%.
According to Dailynews, the residents near the prison had filed a complaint with the district office but did not receive any response.
