It’s already a matter of public record that Somchai “Kamnan Poh” Khunploem has a well-connected family, and now that family is making maneuvers to extricate its patriarch from his current, legal entanglement.
The Nation reports that culture minister Sonthaya Khunploem, Somchai’s son, is spearheading the campaign to get his father freed from jail.
“We are going to ask for a Royal pardon,” said Sonthaya. “We will be proceeding in line with laws and an appropriate timeframe.”
Currently, Somchai is being held in a Chonburi hospital, where he was transferred after spending only a matter of minutes in prison.
