Yesterday, the abbot of a Samut Prakan temple filed a police report against his junior fellow, who allegedly kicked him in the neck and torso.
Phra Kru Soonthorn Sutthisarn, a 56-year-old abbot at Wat Thongkung and the ecclesiastical chief of Bangyapreak village, told police that 52-year-old Phra Thongthip assaulted him while he was paying respect to a Buddha statue.
The incident occurred near the end of the appointment ceremony for the acting abbot of Wat Bangyapreak in the Phra Pradaeng District, which Phra Kru Soonthorn was invited to chair. More than 100 people witnessed Phra Thongthip’s assault on the abbot.
According to Matichon, police said that Phra Thongthip confessed to the violence. However, he insisted that he unintentionally unleashed the kicks and that stress was his main motivation.
