Bangkok Governor MR Sukhumbhand Paribatra has backpedaled from a recent report that he will run for a second term, saying that he was just joking.
In an interview with US media on Saturday while on an official visit to Washington DC, Sukhumbhand said he will run for a second term as governor of Bangkok.
But yesterday Sukhumbhand said he that it was all in jest, and that if he intended to run for re-election he would make an official announcement in Bangkok, The Nation reported.
Democrat Party spokesperson Chavanond Intarakomalyasut said that the party hadn’t discussed the issue of next year’s Bangkok governor elections yet.
