Despite keeping a robust schedule, Japanese PM Shinzo Abe found time to visit the Thai-Nichi Institute (TNI) while in Bangkok on Thursday.
The TNI is a high level vocational training school specializing in industrial technology and management. The school was established under the auspices of the Japan-Thailand Trade Promotion Association(TPA), an organization with a long history of Abe family support.
According to the Nation, Mr Abe was greeted at the Institute by hundreds of students and faculty as well as a performance by Japanese and Thai-style drummers. He then took in an exhibition showcasing the history of Abe family links to the Institute. Before leaving, the PM re-affirmed his commitment to the school by planting a jackfruit tree on the grounds.
This marks the third time Prime Minister Abe has stopped by the school. As a member of parliament, he visited in 2009 and 2010.
