Heartbroken Japanese man jumps to his death at Crowne Plaza Hotel

A Japanese businessman was found dead at 4am this morning on the 24th floor of Crowne Plaza Hotel in Bang Rak district following a leap off the 29th floor.

Police found 58-year-old Sukita, whose surname was not disclosed, lying face up in a pool of blood with a large wound to the  head. Police subsequently searched Sukita’s room on the 27th floor, where he had stayed since Feb. 9. They did not discover signs of struggle but an ashtray filled with cigarette butts and a half-full bottle of sake.

Sukita reportedly came to Thailand with five friends and was scheduled to fly back today. One of his friends told police that Sukita had earlier invited a Thai woman whom he met in a pub to stay with him at his room for few days. The friend said that before his suicide Sukita had been acting stressed when the woman did not come to his place.

Police said that stress resulting from the no-show of the woman might have precipitated the suicide, Dailynews reported.
