Japan crown prince to visit Thailand

Japan’s Crown Prince Naruhito will arrive later this month on an official visit to Thailand after Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra extended an invitation to the 53-year-old emperor-in-waiting, Japanese ambassador to Thailand Seiji Kojima said today.

Prince Naruhito’s three-day visit to the Kingdom is to include an official visit to Government House, where he will meet PM Yingluck, and an audience with their Majesties the King and Queen of Thailand at Chakri Mahaprasart Throne Hall, the Bangkok Post reported.

The Prince, who will be in Thailand from June 25 to 27, will also grant an audience to Japanese citizens, and take a trip to the ancient capital of Ayutthaya, the Japanese Embassy noted.

Prince Naruhito’s visit marks the 126th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He previously visited Thailand in 1980, 1987 and 1994, the Embassy said.
