Chonburi police recently raided the hideout of an Iranian drug gang and confiscated a whopping THB300 million (USD9.76 million) worth of precursor chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Three Iranian suspects – Ali Behnam Asadollahi, Mohammad Mehdi Manaei, and Behtd Gharhyoz – were arrested and pled guilty, police told the Nation.
Deputy National Police Commissioner Lt-General Somyos Phumpanmuang said Chonburi police had been surveilling the gang for over a year.
“We have finally been able to work out that their drug-manufacturing base was in Pattaya. So, we planned the arrests,” Somyos said. The commissioner said that Asadollahi was in charge of producing the meth while his associates delivered the goods.
“This gang has eight members. We will nail down the remaining suspects who are still on the run,” said Somyos.
